Feature FAIRE Magazine | Issue 6.
In July 2022, a twelve-page feature reflecting on my textile-art-curatorial practice flux was published in Faire Magazine. Being in-between states felt daunting: I was transitioning from a familiar independent career and lifestyle in North America to one of interdependence and unknown during a global pandemic. This time of exploration was transformational. Through making art and living with Mum during the lockdown, an interrogation of my heritage ensued. I decolonised my gaze through reading, conversations and more art to combat internalised feelings of not belonging. The nuance, struggles and renegotiated relationship of where I was then drew editor Ruth Beaucourt to my story. I am forever grateful for this opportunity to articulate thoughts and feelings in words publicly and see how much I have grown even then. Progress not perfection.
