Textiles, Technology + Traditions
Since returning to London, I have prioritize parts of my life that needed a little nourishment and attention: being surrounded by people who are truly in your corner, learning and unlearning things that better support my values, and creating from a place of peace, acceptance, and authenticity. In a time where many global events are coming to a head - whether it be the COVID-19 pandemic, climate crisis, spread of misinformation, or systemic racial inequality of resources and basic human rights - focusing on the immediate areas that were within my orbit has been both unnerving and necessary all at once.
After a consistent year of making, continuing practice and productivity has guided me to my next steps. I have been able to sift through many ideas into more tangible projects that are lining up a lifelong thread of things I’d like explore. Thankful for the friends and family who have helped me resettle in London, I have the intention of inviting new connections, collaboration, and opportunity along the way.
Today an article with the Independent was launched describing my relationship with traditional printmaking methods and technology in order to minimize wasteful methods in any small way possible. Working on this paid partnership with Independent and Samsung helped me define one of the many paths that have brought me back to the skills gained in the fashion and textiles industry. Only this time, with concepts, themes, and methods closer to my personal perspective.
