HARVEST (2022)

Video sketches from my train journey from London, UK to Kassel, Germany, and viewing the quinquennial art exhibition Documenta fifteen. 2022 saw Indonesian collective, ruangrupa, artistically direct this year’s edition - the first time a group and curators of Asian origins led the exhibition.

Themes around climate justice, responsibility of fair media coverage, resource sharing, alternative art economies, and strategies for taking care in cultural spheres are echoed in the juxtaposition of images and video clips captured by phone to give a London-based audience a giddy sense of the environment without physically attending.

The project aims to be a tool for those less familiar with happenings at Documenta fifteen and ruangrupa’s core values around Lumbung (Indonesian for ‘rice barn’ symbolic of surplus resource sharing) offering a version of an anti-capitalistic art economy.
